Scheels opened its Johnstown store at the 2534 interchange in September 2017 and it is as much an attraction as a shop: 80-plus specialty shops of sporting goods, footwear and outdoor gear under one roof, a 65-foot Ferris wheel, a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, a wildlife mountain of taxidermy, arcade games, Rollerball, Fuzziwig’s candy factory and Ginna’s Café with its fudge. The town’s biggest employer.
